OVERVIEW

a) OBJECTIVES

Main goal of the STRAERO is to provide qualified services in aeronautical field and to transfer knowledge and experience on non – aerospace applications. STRAERO is concerned with researches and developments in civil and military area, covering a various spectrum of activities, to meet requirements of customers. STRAERO develops applications focused on analysis and testing of structures and materials, analysis of flight control systems, design and manufactures of testing installations.

b) A SHORT HISTORY

STRAERO – Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Analysis of Aeronautical Structures has been detached in 1991, as researches company from the Aviation Institute by reorganizing of the whole aeronautical industry. Early roots of its activity may be deeply find in the Applied Mechanics Institute –IMA (founded in 1950) of the Romanian Academy and on later in The Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Aerospace Researches –IMFCA(1968). Up to 1990, IMFCA became The National Institute for Technological and Scientific Creation – INCREST and later its name was changed and became The Institute for Aerospace Scientific Research and Technological Engineering –ICSITAv, responsible for developing of aircraft programmes and assuming control of all the Romanian aeronautical research. Our experience obtained in this area is closely related to aircraft programmes ( IAR 93 – ground attack aircraft, IAR 99 – training aircraft level II, light airplanes such IAR 823, IAR 827 and other aerial vehicles) and it includes : - static testing and fatigue for integral light plane that IAR 93, IAR 99, IAR 823, IAR 827, IAR 46, YAK 52 and component (wing, anterior fuselage, posterior fuselage, empennages) for IAR 93,IAR 99; fatigue (junction between wing and fuselage) and vibration for IAR 93, IAR 99, IAR 823, IAR 827, YAK 52, also for helicopter blades (IAR 330 /Puma-SOCAT); drop test for IAR 46; - flight simulation, modelling and programming (IAR 93, IAR 99, IAR 823, IAR 827) and sometimes related to failure and crash analysis; - analysis and synthesis of electro-hydro servo actuators for primary flight controls (IAR 93, IAR 99, IAR 95); - aero-servo-elastic controls analysis ( IAR 93, IAR 99, Romanian BAC 1-11).

c) TYPE OF ORGANIZATION

Starting with March, 1991 Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Analysis of Aeronautical Structures was established under name S.C. STRAERO S.A. according to the certificate of registration at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bucharest, number J.40/5793/1991, having the Fiscal Code R451051. STRAERO is a joint stock state company, one of the Aerospace Research Institutes of the Romanian Aeronautical Industry. STRAERO's staff of about 35 includes about 28 university graduates.

d) QUALITY, MANAGEMENT, CERTIFICATION, ACCREDITATION

The STRAERO has certification from civil (recognized by international authorities) : RENAR (the Accredited Body for Quality Systems Certifications, fellow member of the European Organization for Quality) and AACR,( the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority - member JAA) and military national authorities : OMCAS ( the Romanian Military Body for Certification, Accreditation and Monitoring within National Defense Ministry).
